Advantages and disadvantages of Meta Tags

Image
Meta‐tags have many advantages for Web indexing and also some disadvantages. There is only a framework for meta‐tags in HTML, and nothing that defines exactly what meta‐tags exist and how they should be applied (Henshaw, 1999). Undeniable meta tags are important but when they are written incorrectly they can do more harm than good. A bad setup of a meta tag, either by mistake or lack of knowledge, can considerably damage the entire visibility of the website. Their use does not guarantee that the page will be given top billing within a search engine’s list of results (Guenther, 1999). However, currently meta‐tags are the only way to add controlled language and subject indexing to Web pages during creation (Humphreys, 1999).  References: Alimohammadi, D., 2003. Understanding Meta Tags

Image
Mata Tags are the very important part in the SEO. Every website has them and they determine their search optimization. They are a piece of code that is only visible in HTML. Meta tags are snippets of code that tell search engines important information about your web page, such as how they should display it in search results. They also tell web browsers how to display it to visitors. (Hardwick, 2022) Meta tags are the word which a person type in the search bar when looking for information.  To make it more visual let's have a look at Ikea.com Mata Tags (Ikea 2023) Mata charset  attribute sets the character encoding of an HTML document. It is extremely important that you explicitly declare the encoding of every HTML document; failing to do so will cause browsers to guess the encoding, which can lead to cross-site scripting attacks if they guess incorrectly. Setting the character encoding should be done in the Content-Type http header, but can also be set with the <meta c...

Invention of WWW and E-commerce

Image
Tim Berners-Lee, pictured at CERN  (Image: CERN) The World Wide Web was Invented by Tim Berners-Lee, British scientist in 1989. The Web was originally conceived and developed to meet the demand for automated information-sharing between scientists in universities and institutes around the world. Image source The man who started it all was Michael Aldrich. In 1979 he invented online shopping or precisely saying a teleshopping, which become ecommerce until internet.  It has been said that the idea emerged on the walk with his wife. They were talking about how nice it would be if they didn't have to waste the time doing shopping and instead the shopping could be delivered to them. So he came up with the idea to connect phone and TV and that's how he created a system which he named "teleshopping". Analysis of homepage for 2 E-commerce websites: including comparisons and features improvement

Image
To make it more visual I would like to compare two websites to give you more visual explanation of the previous post. The companies I am going to look into are two outdoor selling goods: Cotswold Outdoor and Blacks. I will focus on the header, main body, footer and looking for the product. https://www.cotswoldoutdoor.com/ https://www.blacks.co.uk/ Both sites are very similarly designed. First visible thing that you can see is the SALE picture and clickable categories such as brands, activities or types of clothes. They have logos on the top. Cotswold has it next to the search bar, whereas Blacks has everything in one line. Both have Menu bars but Cotswold has 15 categories right under the search bar. On the right top side there are things like store finder, log in, cart, Wishlist.  Both have nicely designed footer with all the necessary information such as ways to pay, customer service, Q&A.   I don't think there is something that I would change in any of this websites. Definition of E-commerce

Image
In the era where everything is accessible on line there is necessity for the companies to move into the word of internet. The companies are expanding their businesses on line in order to reach the wider range of customers. E commerce, commonly known as electronic marketing, made it possible by enabling worldwide shopping. By definition it covers a variety of business activities which use internet as a platform for either information exchange or monetary transaction or both at times. E-commerce means using the Internet and the web for business transactions and/or commercial transactions, which typically involve the exchange of value (e.g., money) across organizational or individual boundaries in return for products and services. (Lutkevich et al., 2022 ) It is possible to buy goods from any corner of the word in the comfort of your home. You just need an internet.  Reference: Lutkevich, B., Chai, W. and Holak, B. Programming Languages definition

Image
Programming is getting more and more popular. There are different languages suitable for the developers to work with in order to create the best possible product. We are going to get a little familiar with some of them.  HTML , or Hypertext Markup Language, is a language that defines the structure of web pages. It is one of the most basic building blocks of every website, so it's crucial to learn if you want to have a career in web development. HTML determines the structure of web pages. This structure alone is not enough to make a web page look good and interactive. So you'll use assisted technologies such as CSS and JavaScript to make your HTML beautiful and add interactivity, respectively. In this case, I like to break down the three technologies – HTML, CSS, and JavaScript – this way: they are like a human body. HTML is the skeleton, CSS is the skin and JavaScript is the circulatory, digestive, and respiratory systems that brings the structure and the skin to life. (Chris K...
